Although one should not travel in the train without a ticket, but if someone is not able to get the ticket from the counter in a hurry and is caught without a ticket in the train or at the station, then he will be able to pay the fine online from April 1. You will not have to go to jail even if you do not have cash with you. Passengers will be able to make digital payment through UPI.
Hand held terminal machines are being provided to railway checking staff. This machine has been given to the checking staff at many stations of the country, the remaining ones will also be given it soon. Through this, TTEs running in the train will be able to collect fine online from any passenger.
For this, the passenger will have to scan the QR code installed in the machine with his mobile. This step of Indian Railways will bring transparency. Some people who used to accuse TTE of extortion in the name of checking tickets will no longer be able to do so. Along with this, it will also help in reducing cash transactions.
Indian Railways has also decided to get rid of the hassle of standing in long queues for tickets at stations. From April 1, 2024, passengers will also be able to buy tickets online from unreserved ticket counters at railway stations. Along with this, you will be able to make payment through QR code at the ticket counter present at the station. In this, payment can be made through major UPI modes like Paytm, Google Pay and Phone Pay.
